Terms of Use
Last updated November 4, 2026 · Version 2026-11-04
These terms are an agreement between you and Stock & Savor LLC, a Washington limited liability company ("we", "us"), for using the Stock & Savor app and this website. Before you use the app, it asks you to agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy: you check a box and tap Continue, and each account you sign in with agrees too. We keep a record of which version you agreed to and when. Using the app or this website also means you accept these terms, whether or not you've tapped Continue yet. If you don't agree, you can't use the app, but you can still ask us to delete your account and data. In the app, they're under Account → Privacy & Terms. How we handle your information is in our Privacy Policy. Features that aren't available yet are marked "when it launches".
Using Stock & Savor
Stock & Savor helps you keep track of the food in your kitchen, find recipes that use it, cook with Cook Mode and plan meals with your family. You can use it on your phone without an account. Syncing and family kitchens need an account, and some features need Premium.
Testing and availability
Stock & Savor is in testing. Today, accounts and everything that uses our servers (sync, family kitchens, notifications and AI reads) are open only to invited testers using test versions of the app. While we test, features, limits and data on our servers may change, pause or be reset, and test plans aren't paid subscriptions.
Your account
- You must be 13 or older to create an account, or 16 in the EEA and Switzerland (or if your phone names no region) unless your country sets a lower age. The app asks your birth month and year before you make one, and by creating an account you confirm you meet the age.
- Use your own account and keep your sign-in details private. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- Give your account a name your family will recognize. Without one, the part of your email before the @ is used as your name where family members can see it (older family records may hold your whole email).
- You can delete your account at any time: Account → Account & Security → Delete Account, or see Delete Your Account.
Free, ads and Premium
- The free version is free to use. When ads launch, it will show ads from an advertising partner. We don't endorse what they advertise.
- The free version can read 5 recipe videos a month by AI, asking you each time. Premium will have no ads and adds features such as cloud backup of your private kitchen, Premium voice when it launches, reading recipe videos automatically without a monthly limit, reading recipe photos, Stocky's suggested amounts and Ask Stocky (up to monthly, daily and rate limits on questions). Family Premium, a separate plan, adds one shared family kitchen for up to four people. The app shows what's included before you buy.
- Premium voice, when it launches, sends what you say to Google's speech service only after you agree. If you'd rather keep voice on your phone, you keep every other Premium feature.
- Paid plans aren't on sale yet. When they are, you'll buy them through Google Play, under its terms, and see the price before you buy.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. A free trial, if offered, becomes paid unless you cancel before it ends.
- Cancel any time in Google Play. You keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel a subscription.
- Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy. Where the law gives you a right to cancel and get money back, such as the 14-day right in the EEA and UK, that right applies.
- If a price goes up, you'll be told first, as Google Play's rules require.
When Premium ends, your kitchen keeps working on your phone, but cloud backup and sync of your private kitchen stop. We don't delete your backed-up kitchen when Premium ends; if that ever changes, we'll say how long it's kept here and tell you in the app first. If the family plan of the kitchen's owner (its Head Squirrel) ends, the family kitchen's Premium features end for its members too.
Family kitchens
- The Head Squirrel owns a family kitchen: they invite people, set roles and can remove people.
- A Squirrel can change food, the grocery list, meal plans and recipes, and accept meal requests.
- A Chipmunk is a role, not an age. Chipmunks can use food up, add to the grocery list, ask for meals, vote and comment, but can't change foods' details, places, plans or recipes.
- A Visiting Squirrel is a guest with the Chipmunk permissions above until their leaving date.
- What anyone adds (food, plans, requests, votes, comments, shared recipes and shared photos) is visible to the kitchen's members, with their name where the app shows one, and stays with the kitchen if they leave or delete their account. Our Privacy Policy lists exactly what members see.
- A Head Squirrel who wants to leave or delete their account first hands the kitchen over or closes it.
Your content
What you add (your kitchen, notes, recipes you write, photos, comments and ratings) stays yours. You let us store, sync, format and show it to you and the people you share a kitchen with, and send what you choose to our AI provider when you use an AI feature, only to run the app and the features you ask for. For what you add to a family kitchen, that permission lasts as long as the kitchen keeps it. Star ratings also count toward public totals that anyone can see, and if you're the first to rate an imported recipe, its title and link are kept with those totals. We don't use your content for ads or to train AI models.
Be kind in comments and requests. Don't post anything unlawful, hateful or harassing, or anything you don't have the right to share. The Head Squirrel and Squirrels can remove comments in their kitchen, and we may remove content that breaks these rules.
Recipes, pictures and food safety
- Built-in recipes are adapted from public and openly licensed sources, credited on each recipe. Their photos are AI-generated illustrations of the dish, not photos of the recipe as made.
- Ingredient matches, swaps, amounts, temperatures, timers and dates are suggestions to help you. Follow package dates and food-safety guidance, cook food to USDA minimum temperatures with a food thermometer and use your own judgment. Timers and reminders can be late or not show at all if notifications are off, the phone is silenced or the app is closed, so don't rely on them alone.
- Estimated dates are based on USDA FoodKeeper guidance. They aren't a promise that food is safe: how it was stored and handled matters too. Follow the package, and when in doubt, throw it out.
- Diet and allergy warnings read a recipe's ingredient list only. They can miss things and aren't medical advice. Always check labels when someone has an allergy.
- Not medical or nutrition advice. Stock & Savor gives general kitchen-planning help. It isn't medical care, a diagnosis, a treatment, a therapeutic diet or individual nutrition advice. Nutrition numbers are estimates, from the recipe or worked out by us, and can be incomplete or wrong. Don't use the app to dose medication, manage a medical condition or make an emergency decision. Ask a doctor or registered dietitian about your own needs.
- Your cooking, your judgment. You're responsible for choosing, storing, handling and cooking your food, and for checking labels, allergens, cross-contact and recalls. The app can't tell whether food is spoiled, contaminated, allergen-free or cooked enough; dates, colors, timers and swaps don't make food safe. Some recipes and doneness choices are below USDA minimum temperatures and say so; eating undercooked meat, poultry, seafood or eggs raises the risk of foodborne illness. Cooking and eating carry risks, including illness, allergic reactions and burns. You take on those risks for your own cooking and eating, except where the law says you can't.
- AI results, and voice or barcode reads, can be wrong. Recipes read from photos or videos, Stocky's suggested amounts and Ask Stocky's answers are written by AI and marked as such. They aren't reviewed by a person and can be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for you: check every ingredient, amount, swap and step before you cook, especially for allergies, pregnancy, babies and children, and food safety. Stocky isn't a doctor, dietitian or food-safety expert. You can report an answer from the app; a report isn't an emergency service. A suggested amount isn't part of the original recipe unless you choose to use it. Nothing AI writes changes your recipes until you review it and choose to save or use it.
- When a Premium account has AI read a public post's video, the recipe it wrote may be kept for up to 180 days and given to anyone else who imports the same post, so the video isn't read twice. It comes from the public post, not from your own content, and it's still AI-written: check it too.
Recipes from other websites
Importing is a personal tool: you bring in one recipe at a time to cook from. Your phone (and, for a video read, our servers) fetches the public page, post or video for you. An imported recipe is saved on your phone for your own use, and it and its photos belong to their publisher. Please respect the publisher's rights and don't republish what you import. Only send the app photos and posts you're allowed to use; what it reads from them for you is part of the same personal tool. When you share an imported recipe with your family kitchen, its title and link are shared, and a copy is kept for the family for up to 90 days so members can still open it if the site blocks or removes it. Members can also ask for it in a meal request, which names it by its shared title.
Copyright complaints
If you think something in the app infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent at hello@stockandsavor.app. It must include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- the work you say is infringed, and the material and where it appears in the app;
- your name, address, phone and email;
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by the owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you're the owner or authorized to act for them.
If we remove something you added, we'll tell you. You can send a counter-notice with your signature and contact details, the material and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the US federal court for your address (or, outside the US, any district where we may be found) and to accept service from the person who complained. We'll restore the material 10 to 14 business days after a valid counter-notice unless they tell us they've gone to court. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
Food data
Food names and details come in part from USDA FoodData Central and from Open Food Facts, used under the Open Database License. You can ask us for a copy of the Open Food Facts data the app includes, under the same license. Product details may be incomplete or out of date.
Using the app fairly
Don't try to get into other people's kitchens or accounts, interfere with how the app runs, scrape or bulk-download recipes, copy or resell the app, or use it for anything unlawful. Don't use Ask Stocky or other AI features to look for ways to harm, poison or trick anyone with food, to get around their safety limits, to reveal their instructions or to send questions automatically. Don't put other people's personal or health information in what you send. We may limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules, put people at risk or must be closed by law; where reasonable we'll tell you why first.
Changes and ending
We keep improving Stock & Savor, so features may change. We may update these terms for the future. If a change is significant, we'll say so in the app before it takes effect, and when we ask you to agree to a new version you'll check the box again before using the app; if you don't agree, stop using the app (you can still ask for your data or delete your account). You can stop using the app at any time. If we ever close the cloud service, we'll aim to give at least 30 days' notice and a way to get a copy of your data, unless security, the law or events outside our control make that impossible.
Disclaimers and liability
In plain words: the app's information, including AI answers, can be wrong; you use it at your own risk; and what we can owe you is capped. The details:
NO WARRANTIES. TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, STOCK & SAVOR, ITS CONTENT AND ITS AI ANSWERS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T PROMISE THAT CONTENT, NUTRITION NUMBERS, DATES OR AI ANSWERS ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE OR RIGHT FOR YOU, OR THAT THE APP WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE OR FREE OF ERRORS.
LIMITS ON LIABILITY. TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE AND THE PEOPLE WHO WORK WITH US AREN'T LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSSES, LOST DATA OR LOST PROFITS, OR FOR FOOD THAT IS SPOILED, MISLABELED, CONTAMINATED OR PREPARED UNSAFELY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ABOUT THE APP, INCLUDING ITS FOOD, NUTRITION AND AI CONTENT, IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF WHAT YOU PAID FOR IT (DIRECTLY OR THROUGH AN APP STORE) IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR US$100, WHATEVER THE LEGAL THEORY.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or deliberate wrongdoing, or rights you have under the law where you live that can't be limited.
If you misuse the app. To the extent the law allows, you'll cover our reasonable legal costs, and any amount we have to pay, if someone else makes a claim against us because you shared content you had no right to share, used the app unlawfully or seriously broke these terms. This doesn't cover anything caused by our own negligence or wrongdoing.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, and disputes go to the state courts in Clark County, Washington, or the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, or, where a claim qualifies, small-claims court. If you live in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you keep the protection of your country's mandatory laws and can bring claims in your local courts. Before going to court, please email us and give us 30 days to try to sort it out together.
The rest
If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. We may transfer these terms if Stock & Savor is sold or merged; you can't transfer your account. Not enforcing a term right away doesn't mean we give it up.
